What are the implications for the Israeli-North American relationship surfaced by COVID-19? How are the different segments of the Jewish community approaching the crisis differently and what does that mean for community? Join Yehuda Kurtzer, Donniel Hartman, and Nechumi Yaffe in a discussion moderated by Sara Labaton from the Shalom Hartman Institute, about the challenges to Jewish peoplehood on both sides of the Atlantic in the wake of a global pandemic.

Join one of Israel’s budding musicians, Kami Maltz, this Yom Haatzmaut. Brooklyn-based Kami brings the resonance of her native Israel, the passion of her second home Argentina, and a decidedly New York electronic vibe to her performance. With a smooth voice and her autoharp, Kami conjures a harmonious combination of folk and indie elements, with an added touch of cotton-candy, pop embellishments. This Yom Haatzmaut, Kami will celebrate her home, Israel, with all of us playing some renditions of Israeli classics along with some of her own originals.

You’ll hear from a big-band composed of Israeli and Diaspora Jewish musicians, playing custom arrangements of some jazz classics – just for you. We’ll also be getting funky with Israeli artists from Anbessa Orchestra – an Ethiopian Funk Band.
