On March 29th, while reporting in Russia, Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich was arrested by Russian security services and charged with espionage. The U.S. State Department has designated Evan, the son of a Jewish family that left the Soviet Union as refugees, as "wrongfully detained." Jewish Federations are urging our leaders in Washington to do everything they can to ensure Evan's safe return. Join us on Monday, May 8th, as we rally the community in support and launch a communal sign-on letter to Secretary of State Blinken, letting him know that the Jewish community stands with Evan.
Speakers will include Senator Bob Menendez (NJ), Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Jodie Ginsberg, President of the Committee to Protect Journalists and other leaders from Evan's home state of New Jersey.
